Service as a Vehicle for Revolution
Traditional models of service are often relegated as transactional interventions with the notion that needing people to do and provide in order to, is limited, one directional, or just a give-get situation. But there are acts of service that are revelatory, transformative, and even revolutionary. At HSID we pride ourselves on providing service that supports radical change. The private school that wants to open its doors to both national and international students without out pricing its community, the cultural arts center that wants to serve as a hub for innovative cultural arts in a gentrifying community, and the historic non-profit that wants to shift its organizational culture and development strategy to reflect anti-racists principles, are examples of institutions that we support. Our service supports the visionary in seeing their ideals into fruition.
